The main problem with ev or gas powered, everything is pretty much a luxury vehicle now. That not only kills the consumer on the price of the vehicle, but its drives insurance premiums up as well. I agree with you. We should at least have the option for a basic car

EVs are not a good choice for everyone, but everyone should seriously consider and evaluate their own situation, because if it does make sense the benefits make them the smart choice! Most importantly, not being at the whim of OPEC and reducing foreign oil dependence is something every American should want! I love driving past gas stations and not giving a damn how expensive it is! To add to what you said, stats from 2023 show EVs are 60x less likely to catch fire.

Labor practices in foreign countries are atrocious sometimes, and using those products is equally atrocious. Equating foreign products to domestic products on price is complicated and should not be posed in this fashion: foreign cars are cheaper so we should allow them to be sold here.

Hey will absolutely love your content. I have a pretty funny hypothetical question. Technically since no grounding rod or true earth ground is needed, and this system is in fact floating. Could the main breaker panel be constructed of plastic (of course with identical internals)? Would that further reduce any potential shock hazard? I only ask because the main reason most panels are in fact metal is due to the panel/grounding rod connection am I correct there? Thanks

I honestly expected so much better from you. You are usually very logical and fair but, this video was loaded with strawman arguments, ridiculous comparisons, and a total detachment from the way people live. Most people are not complaining that EVs might catch fire, it is the difficulty to extinguish the fire from an EV compared to a gas car. Of course this isn't an issue with LiFePO4, but leaving out what people actually say and filling it in with what you think makes ICE enthusiasts look bad is not good. When comparing costs, you keep comparing ICE trucks and SUVs to sedan EVs. Those are not realistic comparisons. A gas truck should be compared to an electric truck, and gas sedan should be compared to an electric sedan. Your argument about everyone switching to small econoboxes or minivans is either influenced by the fact that you can afford multiple cars or you just look at cars as an appliance. You could grind up ingredients to make a nutrient paste and just use that instead of making tasty food. People want more than what keeps them alive. Why should anyone downgrade from the truck or SUV just to make an electric powertrain viable. For most of us, we can afford one car so that car has to be as versatile as possible. That one car has to look good, get traction in the winter, be comfortable, have cargo capacity, have some performance, some fuel efficiency, etc. People want to live, not just survive. People lift their trucks because it is not just a washing machine that you want to function efficiently, people do unnecessary things for fun. This isn't an issue for you because you just drive your racecar when you want speed and use a different car for different applications. I fully agree with you that all subsidies on EV tech and oil production should be stopped. Lastly, and this is not a problem with the quality of the video, just a point where I disagree with you. Ending all tariffs on China would mean cheaper cars (both ICE and EV) but, if we were to compete with China without tariffs, we would have to lower our standard of living to that of China. 996 work week, and everybody lives in small apartments making barely any money, one car for an entire family. I do agree that we have taken it too far in the other direction to the point where automakers are putting out overpriced junk these days. I think you are a smart guy but you dropped the ball with this one. I'll stop here, this is getting very long.

How do you do off grid charging ??? Use solar panels to charge a battery then to inverter?? Then plug your charger into the inverter? Thx

Thanks for the video. I totally agree with you about the "Debt Economy" is bad for Americans. As far as EV vs Gas, Personally, I would go for Hybrid. Best of both worlds unless you have Solar or never drive long distances. I don't think the car "part" argument is valid -- all things electronics included, require parts from suppliers. So, whether the part is "mechanical" or "electronic", there is no difference. However, Solar Panels generally last 20+ years. They are not subject to gas price fluctuations. So, if you can get an EV that can charge off of that, sure, it's like having free gas after the initial price of the panels. The real issue with EV seems to be that the price for replacement batteries is astronomical when you have to buy the "entire replacement unit", so you are basically buying the gas "up front". Sure, if you could replace the BMS without the added cost, and that was the only problem... but some manufacturers don't make the swap easy. Your grid statements are Invalid because you are not looking at the way the term is used in a "Hypothetical sense". The statement about the "grid" not being ready for "EVs" is a hypothetical that "IF" all gas cars were replaced NOW with EV, the Grid could not handle the transition. It has NOTHING to do with the grid be able to handle "a small percentage" of EV cars being added every year. The fact remains, that each car is basically using 1/4 to 1/2 of a house worth's of electricity depending on driving habits. So, if you swapped out all the gas vehicles with EV, the Grid would suddenly fail due to the load requirements... Just like in Texas, when the winter storm hit, and all the emergency heat units on the heat pumps turned on... hehe. The same would happen if everyone starting charging their cars when they got home. It would totally overload the capacity.

Lets hope the Government doesn't introduce a solar collection Tax.

There's a lot of implicit context in this video that is not explained. Also as someone with dying solar panels, buying cheap Chinese plastic crap (solar panels and batteries) is not a panacea.
